KAP rig carrying case

edited January 2018 in Bits and Pieces
A discarded molded plastic tool case can become a convenient KAP rig carrying case. Use a utility knife to cut away internal dividers as needed; some can be used to hold equipment in place. Pad the top and bottom with thin plastic insulation. It is not as tough as a metal carrying case with heavy duty foam pockets; but it is a good use for something that often gets discarded, and it is a convenient light duty carrying case that provides protection to KAP equipment. Seen here in pictures are the KAP rig, the KAP camera, lens extension and UV filter, charger for camera battery, box for AuRiCo module and servos batteries, and gloves. There is enough unused space for a small wind meter, compass, and small tools for repair work as needed. By the way, no royalties have been paid to BOSCH! imageMolded plastic tool box, discarded" />imageNow convenient storage for KAP equipment" />

    I posted two image per the site protocol as I understood it, but as you can see there is only the notice that there is an image. Right clicking on the symbol opens the image in a separate tab. Appreciate advice about how to make the images appear here with the text. Both images are resident on FLICKR in the KAP Group.

    You provided the URL for a WWW page rather than the URL for an image as your image source. If you select edit and look at your post you will see the URL you pasted was:

    <img src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/41132645@N07/39060690954/in/pool-kiteaerialphotography/"; />

    To post an image from Flickr you can just grab the code from the "embed" option and paste it in your post. It looks like this:

    <a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/41132645@N07/39060690954/in/pool-kiteaerialphotography/"; title="Molded plastic tool box, discarded"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4622/39060690954_0d5fe45a97_c.jpg"; width="600" height="800" alt="Molded plastic tool box, discarded"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

    and it produces:

    Molded plastic tool box, discarded

    If instead, you use the insert image feature in the editing toolbar you must make sure that your image URL ends with a ",jpg" You will find that URL within the embed code from Flickr:

    Thanks for the clarification. Not having done this on a regular basis meant I was inattentive. Will update my posting.

    Very neat, it is a good idea to keep the rig safe as I find they come to more harm in transit than in flight.

    Keeping the Picavet cross supported to avoid wrenching the pan gear out of whack is a must: a good shell case with paddling does the trick.

    Can I ask for the pics to be reposted in the KAP rigs Flickr group as they are not shots taken by kite!?

    Sorry to be a pedant but KAP is KAP!
  • Will do. Thanks for the reminder of proper protocol.
