While visiting the Port of Redwood City I wandered out to the edge of the marsh to check out a large develpment of multistory office buildings. At the edge of this development they were constructing (at a very slow pace according to locals) a marina in former marshland. I was particularly taken with the blask soil that had been excavated, squished flat by large earthmoving equipment, and left to dry in the sun.
