Sign, sign, everywhere a sign ….

Cris

I have been down to the South Bay several times in the last couple of weeks and increasingly find my path blocked by posted/keep out signs. It has only recently occurred to me that it would be interesting to keep a photographic record of these. Some are old and weathered, on occasion the sign itself has disappeared leaving an old weathered backing board (my favorite, restrictions by inference). In other cases the signs are brand spanking new like the seemingly hundreds of new Eden Preserve posted signs I have recently encountered between Alvarado and the Coyote Hills.

SIGN_Bay Trail SIGN: Bay Shore Park

SIGN_BCDC public shore SIGN: Coyote Hills Slough

More signs are available in this Flickr set.

When you are out and about in the South Bay and you see an access sign take a snapshot for me. In the meantime, the new signs serve as a reminder that the formalization of access to the various South Bay landscapes is a ‘front burner’ project for us.

BTW, here is the full chorus of the Five Man Electrical Band’s c. 1970 song

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
