Kayak launch sites

Cris

On several occasions recently I had mentioned coming across a WWW site that documented several dozen “put in” places around the Bay where one could launch a kayak. I had been charmed by the fact that one of these launching spots (#67) was our own Jarvis landing — the same little stretch of Newark Slough where Mayhew’s Landing replaced Beard’s landing after Beard’s Landing was established on the site of the Mission San Jose Embarcadero. In the early 1800s the spot was sometimes called Russian Landing after the north coast Russian traders who arrived to barter furs for grain and hides.

I have found the map which is provided by the fine folks at the San Francisco Bay Water Trail Bay Access site (see www.bayaccess.org/launchsites.html)
